Recent advances have witnessed the great promise of graphene for supercapacitors, representing extraordinary electrochemical performance and intriguing features beyond traditional supercapacitors. In this perspective, we briefly summarize the current status of graphene-based supercapacitors with an emphasis on the key roles and unique advantages of graphene, and highlight the challenges and advances in practical application of graphene for supercapacitors. Finally, the opportunities regarding tothe fundamental mechanisms and further performance improvement of graphene-based supercapacitors are also discussed.
