The fabrication of highly ordered graphene films with a mesoporous and long-range chiral nematic structure has not yet been achieved. We report a bioinspired chiral-template-directed chemical vapor deposition strategy for precisely fabricating such graphene films using nanocrystalline cellulose as a template. The graphene films have left-hand helical ordering, chiral nematic structure, controlled mesopore sizes, excellent electrical conductivity, high specific surface area, and flexibility. By coating Na anode with this film, we achieved uniform Na plating with no dendrite formation. The films also achieved impressive thickness-dependent electromagnetic shielding, i.e., 35 ~ 63 dB, demonstrating their potentially multi-disciplinary applications.
