Herein we reported, using α-MnO2/MWCNTs cathode catalyst, the demonstration of the prototype of a high-energydensity Li-O2 battery in a new relatively closed system, in which the oxygen almost participates in the formation of lithium oxides (e.g., LiO2, Li2O2) on the cathode of the battery, without extra oxygen involving the reaction during the charge and discharge process. The resulting RCLO battery effectively prevents poor circulation caused by oxygen generation in the conventional Li-O2 batteries. And the RCLO battery exhibits remarkable rate capability of 500 mAh g − 1 at 1 A g − 1 , and prominent cycling stability up to 133 cycles. Therefore, this work will shed new insight for developing highly stable Li-O2 batteries.
