Dr. Zhong-Shuai Wu was awarded the first distinguished winner of the 2013 Carbon Prize for young Carbon Scientists. This "World" influential prize is annually awarded a young scientist who made a significant contribution to carbon science, and sponsored by Elsevier and the publisher of Carbon since 2013. Dr. Wu was selected by a committee of senior carbon scientists from a large pool containing many strong candidates (> 40 persons) all over the world. Dr.Wu did his excellent PhD thesis under the advisorship of Prof. Hui-Ming Cheng and Prof. Wencai Ren at the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. He was invited to present an plenary talk of "Controllable Synthesis and Application Explorations of Graphene by Chemical Exfoliation", and received this prestigious prize at the International Carbon Conference on July 18, 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, certified by Prof.Dr. Robert Hurt, Editor-In-Chief of Carbon journal, and Dr. Michael Weir of Elsevier Ltd.
