Invited Review by Guest Editors of Prof. Qiang Zhang, Prof. Chengmeng Chen for Special Issue on "Carbon Materils for Energy"

Micro-supercapacitors are a new class of high-power miniaturized electrochemical energy-storage devices, which not only can offer a balanced energy density and power density bridging the gap between thin-film batteries and electrolytic capacitors, but also can be directly integrated with micro-/nano-scale electronic devices offering sufficient peak power. This review summarizes the recent progress in device configuration and electrode fabrication of micro-supercapacitors, and discusses the facing challenges and future perspectives of micro-supercapacitors.
